On the tax and advisory area, SLP working with external tax advisors recently obtained an Additional Buyers Stamp Duty waiver of S$ 3.31 million from the Inland Revenue of Singapore on a mixed development project.

On the commercial and litigation front, SLP had been engaged in claims in the State Courts, High Courts, and the Court of Appeal, involving commercial or corporate disputes, breaches of directors’ duties, shareholders’ disputes involving minority oppression, cross-border claims involving breach of joint-venture agreements and other claims.

In non-contentious estates proceedings, SLP had been retained by local clients as well as law firms from Australia, Brunei, Fiji, Japan, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the Public Trust of New Zealand, in non-contentious proceedings involving applications for probate, letters of administration or re-sealing of foreign grants in circumstances where the deceased’s assets are registered in Singapore.

SLP’s engagement in contentious estate proceedings has involved proceedings in the High Court to recover from executors, assets which had not been transferred to beneficiaries, seeking accounts from executors, seeking remedies for breach of duties against executors etc.
